It had to be done, the famous drive around the Amalfi coast through many little tunnels, around cliff edges and past lots of pretty villages. It was another sunny day, the sea looked amazing. We started off our day in Sorrento which was just around the corner from our campsite, after taking ages to find somewhere to park we walked down to the port area and ate our sarnies looking out to sea, watching the boats. There was an awesome sun bathing area/ bar with colourful bean bags, bright blue four poster beds with steps leading down to the sea with these floating sunbathing seats in the water (see pics!!)-how awesome would it be to have a big par-tay there!
We left touristy Sorrento and drove around the bay through Positano, Praiano, and Amalfi. We hoped to stop but there were no car parking spaces big enough for the Beast so carried on up to Ravello, recommend by Mum! A lovely hill top village in a valley looking down to the sea. We walked up and down tiny wonky steps which led to little cafes, villas and vineyards. We stopped by a fab deli where the lady gave us lots of mozzarella to try, we bought a couple of Lemon Sodas (very Italian!!!) and wondered back to the car. We then headed over the hills, they were a vibrant luscious green colour, helped by the fertile volcanic soil. The views back down to the sea from the top were breathtaking. Driving down the other side we saw some guys up a rock face trying to fit a net barrier to stop any rocks falling down, they were so high, drilling ginormous holes into the rock-mental job!
