We knew the weather wasn’t going to be as good today so instead of lazying about on the beach we drove into Pag town while it was still sunny. We checked out the old town, saw the white washed brick monuments, walked along the harbour front and almost got blown away!! We then drove on to the southern tip of the Island and visited a few little tiny villages dotted along the rocky coves, one of them being Smokvica, consisting of literally a few houses clumped together on the side of the hill, with a little lane that ran down to a tiny harbour full of fishing nets.
We then drove back past our campsite to Novalja and Zrce beach… ‘Croatia’s Ibiza’! We felt we should check it out for future reference!! Zrce beach was deserted, just a few massive clubs looking lonely on the beach, it was weird to think it would be party central in less than a month!! Novalja was pretty quiet too, a little sea side town with loads of cool bars hidden away down little streets, one of which was covered in wooden boats, it looked awesome…we may have to return one day for a bit of a booze up!!
The weather was quickly deteriorating so we headed back to the campsite via the Pag cheese factory, had a quick taster session and picked up a small chunk of our fave one-naughty but nice 🙂 I then took Jake for a walk and got completely soaked…Croatia is not mean’t to rain! Random day.
*Tomorrow we’re heading down the coast to Trogir where we’ll spend a couple of days visiting Split and exploring the islands, before heading inland.
